A BIT OF A SPRING SPLURGE

From left to right...

I would like to start off this post by saying how thrilled I am that we are now officially in Spring, the evenings are lighter, the weather is starting to look up (sort of) and the clothes have become much more pretty. Admittedly I am one of those people that doesn't wear a lot of colour (boring and typical I know) but this year, I have decided to take a vow and wear some prettier and lighter tones.

As always I have been trawling the net to track down perfect pieces that will look great this Spring and hopefully lighten and brighten your wardrobes a bit, all of it being pretty affordable stuff too (which is always a bonus in my books).

All of these pieces would be perfect for the approaching Spring afternoons in pubs, weekend breaks and festivals. I hope you all like these bits as much as I do.

THREE EASY WORK OUTFITS

If you work in an office sometimes it can be hard to judge what kind of clothes you should/could wear. It can be hard, especially for women to get it exactly right - there can be many rules that can limit a woman to what she can wear, especially within the office environment.

Finding a good pair of sturdy, comfortable black trousers is the key to many outfits. They're smart, they're certainly appropriate and they go with pretty much everything one would have in their work wardrobe. I think I have mentioned these before in a previous post but these trousers are amazing, they are so flattering and super affordable too. I am now on my second pair (one pair I keep for work and the other I keep for nice) - they have lasted me so long considering they are so cheap. You can make a lot of outfits work with black trousers, in the above picture I have added a black high neck blouse with the trousers (probably a bit more wearable in the summer as its sleeveless), this would be perfect for a day where you could potentially be going for drinks after work too.

If you wanted to look a bit more formal you can add a shirt to your outfit - a shirt is a garment that always looks smart for work, regardless what you wear it with. A blue shirt is a lovely option to go for too, they are so in at the moment, and it's a nice change from wearing a standard white shirt. Adding a scarf to your outfit is a way to make it a bit more feminine and stylish. Finding a light, colourful or plain scarf (whatever you prefer) to go with your outfit can make all the difference.

It is always nice to spice up your work outfits by wearing something with a bit of colour and pattern - how better to do this then to wear a pretty A-Line skirt? Any sort of pattern that you can get your hands on can make your outfit that bit more interesting, this skirt in particular is an absolute bargain at £10, how could you turn down that for such an amazing price?!

FAVOURITE NUDE LIPSTICKS

The nude lipstick is the go to colour on the lips for a lot of people, it can be worn on a day to day basis, for work, school, college or whatever your daily routine may be. I know that my nude lipsticks are the ones that are used the most in my collection, today I bring you some of my favourite nude lipsticks, some high end and some drugstore...

Listed below in order (left to right in picture above)...

MAC Naturally Transformed Lipstick | Purchase Here
This is a lipstick that I have added to my collection recently, it is another matte one (of course, that's all I seem to wear!?), this is a real true nude - it can come out a bit yellowy on the lips from time to time but it is the perfect colour to blend into the middle of the lips to create the ombre effect that everyone is loving at the moment.

MAC Velvet Teddy Lipstick | Purchase Here
This is one of MAC's bestselling lipsticks, the sales of this really rocketed around two years ago, when the craze for the 'Kylie Jenner' lip was the new thang. It's the perfect matte browny nude to rock when you want something a bit deeper for your day to day look, or something chic for a night out.

MAC Honeylove Lipstick | Purchase Here
This must be my most used lipstick ever, as you can see from the picture, it is very near the end *cries*, I wear it so much because it is the easiest lipstick to wear by far - especially for day to day wear for work. For a matte lipstick it is very moisturising on the lips too...

Urban Decay Naked 2 | Purchase Here
This is the first high end nude lipstick that I ever bought myself, in hindsight I would have gone for a matte shade (as that is what I prefer) but this lipstick has done me well. The shiny/glossy finish keeps your lips well moisturised and perfectly pretty. The colour is gorgeous too, even though matte lipsticks are my preference I have found myself reaching back for this a lot recently because of its high pigment and quality.

Too Faced Melted Nude | Purchase Here
Too faced are a brand that keeps getting better, after visiting New York in 2014 I was blown away by their extensive collection of gorgeous make up and luxury packaging. A lot of bloggers often rave about this brand, so I decided to take the plunge and buy this lippy - what better way to get your first impression. It is a lovely colour and applies like a dream due to its soft fabric applicator, it is super moisturising on the lips too.

NYX Butter Cream London | Purchase Here
These nyx butter cream lipsticks have become my newest addiction, they're great. For anyone who needs a cheap, cute and easy way to apply matte lipsticks, then these are the products for you. They go on so well and set nice and matte, the only down side is that they can be quite drying on the lips but for £5.50 a go, I think they are well worth the price.

Laura Mercier Baby Lips | Purchase Here
This was the very first lip pencil I ever bought, it is one that is a bit more on the pinky side as appose to nude but can still be worn with any nude lipstick, especially if you're after an ombre effect with your lips.

MAC Stripdown Lip Liner | Purchase Here
I have found that whenever I am asked what colour I have on my lips, the answer I always seem to give is "Stripdown", it is a really brown, yellowy nude that really took off when ol' KJenner started showing her infamous pout off to the world of Instagram.  It has a real rock chick 90s vibe to it that has done a full circle and become super popular again.

MAC Whirl Lip Liner | Purchase Here
This has got to be my all time favourite lip liner because of it's versatility, it can literally go with tons of lipsticks, whether they're nude, pink, brown or mauve coloured. It is also a colour that looks so nice on so many different skin tones, whether you're really fair or dark skinned. It is a real all rounder and perfect for going out and for casual wear too.

MAC Nice 'n' Spicy Lip Liner | Purchase Here
I always put this liner on if I am due to go out for the day or evening, especially when I won't have easy access to any mirrors, this is because it is part of MAC prolong wear range which if you didn't know is absolutely brilliant, especially the liners and lipsticks. This liner literally doesn't budge from your lips for a good 6 hours.

GREEN IS MEAN

Missguided always come up trumps with their clothes, especially with their party outfits, that are pretty much perfect for every night out. A lot of their clothes are inspired by the Kardashian/Jenner clan, with this bodysuit being one of them.

Bodysuits are such great pieces to collect for your wardrobe, they are so versatile as they can be worn with jeans, skirts, tailored trousers, the possibilities are pretty endless, especially when they are black.

The green faux suede skirt is the ultimate spring/summer piece to wear, to spice and spruce up your outfits.

KAT VON D, SHADE & LIGHT PALETTE | BEAUTY

Kat Von D, Shade & Light Palette | Purchase Here

I saw the Kat Von D products whilst I was in America last year but never really paid much attention - as it wasn't a brand I knew a lot about but after hearing so much about this eye shadow palette whilst on YouTube (how I spend most of my time - watching make up tutorials), I was really drawn in. After doing tons of research on Kat Von D products I came to learn that they all of her products are of a really high quality (from what I read and heard) so knew I had to give it ago. If you are someone that likes your matte shades and prefer to go for a more muted but edgy/grunge look to your make  up, then this is a palette I would definitely recommend looking into getting.

The palette is divided up  into three sections, each of the four shadows in the sections are designed to work together and create a signature look, as you can see above I have swatched all of the shadows on my arm so you can see what they look like on the skin.

These shadows are so pigmented and have a real velvety texture to them. The pay off is really incredible, I wore a mixture of these shadows throughout the day/night and I didn't notice any of them rubbing off or creasing which is such a bonus. The only negative thing I would have to say is that was a tiny bit of fall out when applying the shadows, but not anything a make up wipe can't clean up.

As this is a palette that is sold only in America, the only way you can purchase it is through Amazon and eBay.

Are you looking for that perfect Spring dress that will come in handy for pretty much all occasions? This is the dress you need to be looking for, it is flattering, respectable (perfect for christenings, weddings and summer work parties) and chic too. This colour is everything right now - that sort of inbetween lilac grey colour that has everyone swooning at first site. It is the best colour to wear as it goes with blonde, brown, red and black hair and all skin tones/types.

NEW IN | MAC GOODIES

I think we have definitely talked about how much of a loved brand MAC is before and how much it is valued by every make up lover on the planet, I can assure you that this is true. Recently I picked up some new bits from MAC, some bits that will make your average Saturday afternoon a bit better.

Gold Deposit Mineralize Skinfinish | Purchase Here
Let me start off by saying how much of a wonderful product this is, everything about the mineralize skin finishes are lovely, the pigmentation and the colours. I had heard a lot about this specific shade on other blogs and YouTube channels and decided to give it a go. It is the perfect highlight shade for someone who has the more darker skin tone because it gives a natural J-Lo-esque glow to the skin, which let's be honest, who doesn't want?! It is the absolute perfect product to use whist tanned to give you that extra strong cheekbone glow. The beauty about this product is that you can use it all around the face, if you're thinking about taking a shimmery bronzer on holiday with you to give your skin extra sun-kissed look then this is the product for you.

Mocha Blush | Purchase Here
Most girls I know that are into their make up tend to stay away from blush because (like me until about 18 months ago) they don't see the impact of what putting a blush on can make to their make up look, or will they look too done up with rosy pink cheeks. Now I have completely changed my outlook on that, a blush is now one of my favourite things to collect along with bronzers and this is because I have learnt that when you buy a blush that suits your skin, it looks really lovely...

Here we have a really gorgeous matte blush from MAC that gives such a subtle but pretty and sultry look to the cheeks, perfect for girls of all skin tones and types. This is the perfect colour to wear to work or for your day to day activities - as it's not too overpowering. Velvety to the touch and really long lasting, MAC blushes are the perfect way to start your collection.

NEW IN BEAUTY | DRUGSTORE/CHEMIST BUYS THAT ARE WORTH IT

I'm speaking for myself here but I think some people will agree that, when spending money on make up I tend to steer towards buying higher end brands because I'd rather spend my money on more luxury products because they tend to be better quality. However I was on the boots website the other day and was pretty stoked to find that they stocked NYX and they had some of the matte lip creams in stock (that always be seem to sold out everywhere else) - so I decided to purchase three colours along with a few other bits.

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream | Purchase Here
After hearing lots about this product on YouTube as well as seeing them pop up on my Instagram feed every day I decided to give them a try. Firstly I think that they are a fab price, for someone that usually spends £15.50 on a matte mac lipstick I was happy to get near enough three for that price. They smell really lovely and are a dream to apply, so much so that you don't need to use a lip liner to make sure that your lips are neat and tidy. The formula is really nice, I found that they take about 15 minutes to dry completely matte, but it they aren't sticky which is a bonus - this product can be drying on the lips but not so much so that you need to apply a balm/lip gloss. The lasting power is ok, I found that applying them at around 8am meant they lasted to around 12ish, which is about the same as a MAC lipstick. For £5.50 each, they are a total bargain and you will be very impressed with them, "Zurich" is a definite dupe of "Please Me" from MAC. Pictured above - (Left to right - London, Cannes, Zurich)

NYX Glide on Lip Pencil | Purchase Here
Again, after hearing such rave reviews of the lip pencils from NYX and finding out that from another blogger that all lip pencils are made the same - no matter which brand they are from. So, I thought instead of spending £12.50 on a MAC liner, why not spend less than half the price on a NYX one - there's not really anything bad to say about this liner, it goes on so smoothly, I guess hence the name "glide on pencil", it's super long lasting and such a lovely colour. If you are after lip pencils that you'd like to spend a little less money on but still get the high end value, then I suggest purchasing some of these. This is the perfect "Red Tape" liner to go with MAC Retro Matte Ruby Woo.

Soap & Glory Solar Powder Bronzer | Purchase Here
After seeing Gabby talk about this bronzer on YouTube for the longest time I knew I wanted to try it for myself and after seeing it on the Boots website with £2 off (the offer is still on) then it a definite winner. If you are after a light contour that will give your face a nice shape then this the perfect product for you.

Soap & Glory Glow All Out Highlight & Sculpt Cheek Stick | Purchase Here
This is the perfect edition to your make up collection, being an exact dupe of the NARS multiple for less than half the price, these sticks come in super handy when you want to add that chic cream highlight to your cheek bone, a long with your cupids bow and under your eyebrow. As you can see from the pictures, this highlight has a super shine to it.

NEW IN BEAUTY | MAC MATTE LIPSTICKS...

MAC are renowned for their lipsticks, I'm sure a lot of ladies would agree with me that they are some of the best on the market. The amount of colours and finishes they have to offer is quite unlike any other make up brand. Today I bring to you two new matte shades, both of them very bold but perfect for a night out and when you're feeling a bit braver with your make up...

MAC D for Danger | Purchase Here
This is a very pretty deep pinky/red shade, this is such a perfect colour for the ladies that love their matte red lips on a night out. A shade like this is best worn with more of a neutral eye look so you don't overdo it and turn into a bit of a drag.

MAC Antique Velvet | Purchase Here
This shade is a newer one from MAC and it's not a shade that would be for everyone, understandably this lipstick can completely wash some skin tones out. However, if you are a fan of the dark, Kylie Jenner inspired lip then this might be a shade for you. It is perfect for adding some extra glam to a dramatic look, especially for a night out on the town. I feel that brown lipsticks have become the new red for some individuals, as they just suit them better - especially if you have naturally tanned skin.

The formula of these lipsticks are great, they go on like a dream and the lasting power of them both are amazing, like every other MAC lipstick.

NEW IN BEAUTY | FAVOURITES

Today I am here to talk to you about some new products that I have bought recently, I feel like it has been a hot minute since I have shared some beauty purchases with you guys, so here we are...

Bobbi Brown Blush | Purchase Here
Bobbi Brown is such a highly respected brand within the high-end beauty market, all of their products are really pretty and are raved about all around the world. I came to the conclusion that I wanted to try out some of their stuff for myself so when I found myself looking in their cute, little shabby chic store in Westfield, I was drawn automatically to the blushers and bronzers that they had on show, this is where I picked up the colour tawny. As far as packaging goes, I believe that everyone really appreciates the all black sleek style and Bobbi Brown, MAC and Nars all do this so well. This is such a gorgeous deep red colour that is perfect for any make up look, especially when you're going for a red lip and neutral eye. Theses blushes are super pigmented and velvety to the touch, making them a dream to apply.

Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray | Purchase Here
After hearing so much about this spray and how wonderfully well it kept your make up on, I knew I had to try and get my hands on it. Due to my very oily complexion, my make up struggles to stay on my face for the whole day without it running or going patchy. Determined to find something to combat this problem, I decided to give it a go, hoping for super nice results. For me, I feel like it didn't do my skin the world of good - I break out really easily and so putting anything new on my T-Zone or around my chin can make my skin a lot worse. If you are one of those lucky people that don't suffer with breakouts often then trying this could really work for you, I found that my make up did last a bit longer, for the oily skin people - trying the Oil Control Make Up Spray might work better...

Bare Minerals Neutralising Primer | Purchase Here
This isn't exactly a new purchase for me, it's a repurchase. It's something that I have been using for a long time now and to be honest I don't quite know where I would be without it. This primer counteracts the red areas on your skin because of its yellow colouring, which is perfect if you suffer with spots and redness. The Bare Minerals powder foundation is the only one I have found that doesn't aggravate my skin and doesn't make the break outs I get even worse. This primer helps to make the application of the foundation so much easier, so it glides onto your skin when you are swirling the brush around your face. The only down side to this primer is that your foundation can slide around a little bit on your face throughout the day.
